The qualitative paradigm and Van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological approach were assumed for this purpose, with a descriptive-interpretative character. Its purpose was to signify the ethical component emerging from the action or non-action of these professionals in two non-autonomous Venezuelan public universities.
As final considerations, aspects of the ethical component emerge, which were signified as a synapse subordinated to moral duty, categorized as: commitment, solidarity, responsibility, cooperation and respect towards students, colleagues and the university itself, colleagues and the university itself.
The final reflections revolve around a moral duty that requires to be assumed beyond the professional obligations that are proper to the functions of the university teacher in the context of the functions of the university teacher in the context of academic praxis.
